Beatrice’s Centre for Student Affairs
I am so excited about this show:
BEATRICE’S CENTRE FOR STUDENT AFFAIRS, OR, HOW I LEARNED THAT MY MOTHER WAS RIGHT ABOUT MAKING ART IN A PRAIRIE TOWN DURING THE RISE AND FALL OF GRUNGE MUSIC.
Curated by Jennifer Cherniack
Featuring Jo-Anne Balcaen, Daniel Barrow and Evan Tapper
September 26-November 22, 2008
Opening Reception: Friday, September 26th, 8pm
Art school/art education seem to be all the rage right now: Canadian Art and C magazine are both publishing issues about education and pedagogy in the winter, and an upcoming conference at the Banff International Curatorial Institute called “Trade Secrets: Education/Collection/History” and programmed by Kitty Scott, seems to also be focussed on the legacy of arts and curatorial education. It seems that Cherniack’s show is very “of the moment” in this way, plus it promises to be a lot of fun.
Daniel Barrow, who can do no wrong in my books, is also performing a new version of “Every Time I See Your Picture I Cry” at the ROM as part of the Sobey Art Award 2008 nominees show on September 30th. More info below:
